Spoke creates innovative proprietary functional ingredients that enhance the health and wellness of consumers. Founded by a team of experienced professionals with backgrounds in pharmaceutical and consumer product development, marketing, and intellectual property, Spoke has deep industry experience ranging from start-ups through multinational organizations.
Spoke recognized a pervasive consumer products industry challenge: many desirable plant-derived functional ingredients (fat-soluble vitamins, hops compounds, coffee compounds, resveratrol, CoQ10, etc.) are lipophilic–meaning they are inherently oily and do not dissolve in water. This makes them difficult to incorporate into consumer goods like beverages and skin care products. Producers currently rely on archaic methods to work with these ingredients, using harsh solvents or surfactants. These impart unpleasant tastes, result in inconsistent amounts of active ingredients, and create manufacturing headaches.
Spoke addresses this challenge through groundbreaking, patented formulation techniques. Through this approach, Spoke ingredients solve the basic problems of ingredient potency, bioavailability, product stability and manufacturability. And, importantly for the beverage industry, Spoke also solves the essential problem of taste. Spoke beverage ingredients do not negatively impact taste, and thus Spoke technologies open the door to entirely new beverage ingredients like Spoke’s flavorless, water-soluble IsoCaps™ Coenzyme Q-10.
For the topical/cosmetics industry, Spoke focuses on the central issues of aesthetics and efficacy. Like taste in beverages, skin feel in topicals drives customer satisfaction. Spoke technologies enable functional lipophilic ingredients to appear in light, water-based topical products while maximizing their penetration into the skin where they are needed. This eliminates the need for solubilizing oils and other solvents that give products a “greasy” feel or irritate the skin.
Spoke’s mission is to develop and license these superior ingredients to the global consumer products industry for use in their own products. Spoke also showcases its ingredients in its own finished product Brands, such as Curēous™ Tea and Physik™ topicals.
